My Finished Kiridashi by DanoGambler My Finished Kiridashi by DanoGambler
My kiridashi knife is now finished! :D
As my first traditionaly patternwelded knife, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! The construction can be disassembled to make proper cleaning and care of the blade possible^^
Being my first patternwelded knife, I'm pretty darn happy with how it turned out! The handle is made of mahogany and silver. The silmple aluminum pipe will be changed inso something nicer when I know what to use. It works for now.

What a nice looking knife. Though I still prefer micarta handles for the extra grip.

Every material has its limits, pros and cons. Be it practicality or aestethics, there's no right or wrong^^ This knife wouldn't go as well with micarta, as it strives more to old tradition. But I gte your point c:

WOW that's slick. I feel like everything you make these days just has this polish of professionalism that isn't so "machine" as to feel unnatural. It's just, "somebody cared enough to make this thing look great." Man, keep it up!

I could make more of them, but patternwelding takes a lot of time, hard work and material ;; w ;;
I can make simpler ones though, with a simple iron and steel laminate.

how long does one knife normally take?

It really depends. I'm waiting for my new forge atm and I will need to test it out. But after that, I should be pretty efficient. Could finish and send a knife within a few days.

Well i definately want a japanese themed knife like this. So if your forge is good i will gladly pay for one (love the whole mini katana style :3 )

Well, if you want something in a more katana/tanto style, then there some completely different things in the geometry^^ This knife for example is of the same typs as the poketknife that is sold in most shops in Japan. A regular capenter/constructionworker's knife to keep in the pocket and use to pretty much anything. It's only sharpened on one side.

oh no no no! im fine with the knife how it is! I like it CAUSE it has a tanto/katana look too it! i know the geometry is off! you can tell just by looking at the blade!  :)
